As Manchester City thrashed Real Madrid 4-0 in the Champions League semi-final second leg, Thierry Henry reserved special praise for Pep Guardiola.

After all, the Catalan boss masterminded his side to a victory that will go down in history as one of the finest we have ever seen in Europe’s elite competition.
While the likes of Bernardo Silva and Jack Grealish are likely to steal the headlines for Manchester City against Real Madrid, Thierry Henry was full of praise for Pep Guardiola.
Thierry Henry raves about Pep Guardiola as Manchester City beat Real Madrid
In the first leg, the Sky Blues were clearly conservative, as they respected the danger of going gung-ho at a stadium like the Santiago Bernabéu.
However, at the Etihad Stadium, the hosts manifested Wayne Rooney’s prediction as they well and truly ‘crushed’ the visitors by taking the game to them, courtesy of a Bernardo Silva brace, an Eder Militao own goal and a late Julian Alvarez strike.
After Manchester City reached the Champions League final in style by walloping Real Madrid, Thierry Henry was all praises for Pep Guardiola.
“That’s why I called him the most versatile player in that team. Pep Guardiola, tactically, that’s why he said his legacy is already exceptional”, he said on CBS Sports Golazo.
“Take a bow. Now they have to see, they have to finish it. But I mean, tactically, what he has to offer every single time is just crazy.”
MCN View: Guardiola deserves a whole lot of credit
As Thierry Henry said, it is Pep Guardiola that emerges as the difference-maker for Manchester City time and again, as was the case against Real Madrid.
Individual players will earn the plaudits but if it was not for the Spaniard changing the system mid-season, they simply would not have been contending for either the Premier League or the Champions League.
To deny Guardiola’s genius is simply naïve as he continues to innovate time and again.
