Thierry Henry says Man City currently have a ‘monster’ who nobody in world football can compete with

Thierry Henry has been very impressed with one member of Pep Guardiola’s squad this season and believes there is nobody in world football who can match what the Man City player does.

The last few days have been very positive for everyone associated with the Manchester club, with great results over Man United and Napoli, following a tough start to the 2025/26 campaign in which City lost two of their opening three Premier League games.

Phil Foden, Erling Haaland, and Jeremy Doku have all impressed throughout their last two matches, and Henry has been heaping praise on one of the trio.

The former Arsenal forward has stated that there is nobody in world football better at what one of the Man City stars does, with the pundit labelling the player as a “monster”.

Thierry Henry thinks Erling Haaland is the best goalscorer in the world

Haaland has started the current season in very impressive form, with the Norwegian scoring six goals in Man City’s first five matches of the campaign.

Speaking about the Norwegian following his goal against Napoli on Thursday night, Henry has stated that there is nobody in world football who can talk to the 25-year-old about scoring goals, essentially labelling the Man City star as the best on the planet at putting the ball in the net.

“They find a way, and the way they did it by the way, the pass of Phil Foden, that finish from the monster,” the pundit said on CBS Sports.

“We already know when it comes to goals, and anything that happens in the box, you know, at his age, what he did, the amount of goals, nobody can talk to him when it comes to that.”

Haaland has stepped up for Man City in many ways this season and looks to be at the level he reached during his first campaign at the Etihad Stadium.

If the Norwegian striker can replicate those numbers, City will go a long way this term, and Chris Sutton can see Haaland continuing his hot streak against Arsenal on Sunday.

How Erling Haaland’s Champions League record compares to Thierry Henry

Haaland became the fastest player to reach 50 goals in the Champions League with his strike against Napoli on Thursday night, a feat Foden cannot see being broken in the future.

The Norwegian reached the landmark after just 49 games and is now tied with Henry in ninth place when it comes to the most goals scored in Champions League history.

The Arsenal legend achieved this across 112 matches, an average of 0.45 goals per game. This trails Haaland massively, who is producing 1.02 goals per game in Europe’s elite competition.

This highlights once again what a special player the striker is, and the 25-year-old will certainly have Cristiano Ronaldo’s record in his sights
