Manchester City youngster Tommy Doyle says he is in no rush to leave the club, and hints he’d be open to another loan move next season.

Doyle is now back at the club, after a successful loan spell last season with Sheffield United.

Doyle made 38 appearances across all competitions for the club, including 33 in the Championship.

He, and fellow City youngster James McAtee, ultimately played a part in helping the Blades gain promotion back to the Premier League.

It is now about the next step for Doyle.

He has been playing regularly, and impressed at Bramall Lane.

Sheffield United would be happy to take him back and have held brief talks already about that. But Doyle is keen to have a chat with Pep Guardiola before heading back.

A lot of people are expecting Doyle to head out on loan again next season.

Doyle currently isn’t sure what will happen. But he has seemingly opened the door to leaving on loan again, and he says that he isn’t in a rush to leave the club permanently. He told the Mirror: “I am not in a rush to move anywhere and leave City. The next step for me is to play Premier League football. Once I have done that for a year I’ll see where I am at.

“I need to have conversations with City to see what they want from me. Nothing has happened yet. With Sheffield United, it was more congratulations on being here and go and win the tournament.

“The expectation is to go all the way here. It should be exciting. This season has been massive. I have played a lot, getting promotion helps, I felt a massive part of it and it was enjoyable. Now I can represent my country and try to win something again.”

Doyle was speaking ahead of the U21 Euros in Georgia.

Tommy Doyle staying at Manchester City this summer would be a surprise, loan exit is surely likely

The idea of Doyle being involved with the first-team next season is great.

However, it doesn’t feel all that likely. While City could lose Ilkay Gundogan, Pep Guardiola still has options like Rodri, Kevin De Bruyne, Phil Foden and Kalvin Phillips.

Mateo Kovacic will be coming in at the Etihad.

And there is also young Maximo Perrone, who Guardiola may fancy getting a bit more involved.

And recently, it was reported that Pep wants to integrate McAtee.

We shall see what happens with Doyle, who is described as a ‘dynamic midfielder’ by the club. But he would be doing very to get first-team minutes next season. It would make a lot of sense to send him to Sheffield United, now in the Premier League, for a second loan spell.
