Tottenham Hotspur fans have been having their say on reports claiming Manchester City defender Manuel Akanji is in their sights.
Manuel Akanji is surplus to Pep Guardiola’s requirements at Manchester City and has been linked with a late move away from the Etihad.
Now, according to Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham have made an approach for Akanji, one of three names on their defensive shortlist.
The prospect of Akanji joining Spurs has split opinion among the fanbase, with quite a few supporters wanting another City player ahead of the Swiss.

Tottenham fans would rather sign Nathan Ake than Manuel Akanji
Tottenham have been eyeing several Man City players this summer as Thomas Frank looks to strengthen his squad.
Spurs were in pursuit of Savinho for a while, but their move for the Man City winger appears to have hit a dead end.
Tottenham have also been linked to Nathan Ake and, in the wake of the Akanji reports, Spurs fans have been saying they’d prefer Ake to Akanji.
“I would absolutely take Akanji as a back up CB, he can also play RB, would be happy with the signing,” one Spurs fan said on X.
“But I can’t lie – we should go for the other Man City CB, Nathan Ake. We need a left-footed CB.”
Another fan wrote: “Ake would’ve been better but if we can get (Xavi) Simons, a winger and Akanji I can’t complain too much.”
The calls for Ake kept coming, with one fan writing: “Remove Akanji. Ake would be perfect.”
Another said: “I’d prefer Ake as he can be LB and LCB cover as opposed to Akanji who is only really CB cover.
“However, still a good bit of business if we can get it sorted.”
Another wrote: “Can he play full-back at all? I like that Ake can play LB too so I would prefer him over Akanji at the moment.”
Who else is in pursuit of Manuel Akanji
If Man City loan or sell Akanji to Tottenham, they risk improving a team that could become a direct rival in both the Premier League or Champions League.
Crystal Palace, Galatasaray and AC Milan have all been linked with Akanji, and any one of those would be better as far as City are concerned.
Palace aren’t expected to challenge City in the Premier League or Champions League, while Milan are neither in the Premier League nor in European competition this season.
Galatasaray would be a riskier proposition, as they are set to face City in the Champions League.
However, Akanji is likely to be most impressed by what Tottenham bring to the table, what with them being in the Premier League and Champions League.
Therefore, if Akanji was to decide he would only join Spurs and nobody else, the Citizens’ hands will be tied somewhat.
Obviously City can just choose not to move Akanji on, but then that would be a waste for all concerned.
