Manchester City continued their positive start to the 2024/25 season on Saturday by winning their second Premier League match of the campaign.
Specifically, City welcomed newly promoted Ipswich Town to the Etihad Stadium and then went on to beat them 4-1.
Erling Haaland bagged his first hat-trick of the campaign against Kieran McKenna’s side to help his side come from behind to secure another three points.
After the game, another player who made an impact in this game for City found himself on the end of some big praise from a pundit who knows all about what it takes to play in the top flight.

Troy Deeney stunned by ‘unbelievable’ Kevin De Bruyne after latest Man City performance
In his latest Team of the Week article for BBC Sport, Troy Deeney had this to say about Kevin De Bruyne after seeing his performance against Ipswich.
He said: “There are not enough words. He is just the best player.
“He is the best midfielder in his position and he was unbelievable again, he got Manchester City going against Ipswich.
“It looks like he is enjoying himself as well, with a lot of talk of him moving.”
De Bruyne was at his best against Ipswich
After completing the full 90 minutes as City’s captain in their 2-0 win over Chelsea, De Bruyne did the same thing against Ipswich but was replaced by Matheus Nunes shortly before the final whistle.
During his time on the pitch, not only did the midfielder score his first goal of the season to put City 2-1 ahead in the 14th minute, he then went on to provide his first assist of the campaign two minutes later for Haaland’s second goal of the match.
The 33-year-old made four key passes in the game and hit the woodwork from one of his three attempts at goal.
Prior to the Ipswich game, Jack Wilshere even claimed that De Bruyne is a better midfielder than former Arsenal star Patrick Vieira was.
This shows that Deeney isn’t the only former Premier League star to share his admiration for the City midfielder.
