It has been reported that PSG have ‘given up’ in their pursuit to sign Bernardo Silva from Manchester City.

This comes from Le 10 Sport, after it was claimed in June that City had doubts over whether the Ligue 1 giants would pay their desired fee to sign the £43 million (BBC Sport) man.

Now, it seems like Manchester City have been proven right, as PSG may have waved the white flag in the race to sign Bernardo Silva.

PSG ‘give’ up in race to complete Bernardo Silva transfer from Manchester City

Branded as ‘underrated’ by Ilkay Gundogan via ESPN, the 28-year-old seemed like he would finally be set to leave the Etihad Stadium this summer.

But once again, it looks like while clubs are interested in his signature, the Portuguese international has found it hard to find a suitor that is ready to satisfy the Sky Blues’ demands and make the move official.

Now, it has been revealed that PSG have ‘failed in all directions for two months’ and have now ‘given up’ in their pursuit to sign Bernardo Silva.

Furthermore, it has been claimed that while Luis Enrique’s side had an agreement with the treble-winner as well as the go-ahead from Jorge Mendes, their offers have been rebuffed by Pep Guardiola’s men, who are simply uninterested in sanctioning any such deal.

It has even been reported that the Parisians made two bids to sign Bernardo, including a £51.5 million bid but the English giants would only have considered a sale if they were presented with an £85.8million offer.

As a result, PSG grew tired and decided to approach other targets instead of trying to get a deal for Bernardo Silva over the line.

Bernardo Silva staying would be a massive bonus for Pep Guardiola

After Ilkay Gundogan’s departure, to have lost Bernardo Silva to PSG would have been a blow for Manchester City.

And Pep Guardiola in particular, who will intend to win across multiple fronts next season.

The five-time Premier League winner’s potential exit would not only have weakened City in midfield but also out wide, as he is perhaps the only player, alongside Phil Foden who is capable of adeptly playing in said role after Riyad Mahrez’s move to Al-Ahli.

As a result, the versatile attacker’s stay would be a huge blessing for the Catalan.
