Manchester City are now keen to sign Reece James from Chelsea – a player Kyle Walker and Phil Foden have both praised in the past.
It was Football Transfers who claimed that Pep Guardiola wants to buy the England international, and talks have taken place.
So, what have Phil Foden and Kyle Walker said about Reece James? Let’s take a look…
What’s the story?
Well, the Manchester City duo know the Chelsea No.24 from international duty – of course – and they have spoken very highly of him in the past.
Walker once described James as “unbelievable” when speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live (7:17pm, October 14, 2022) about the right-back.
The Manchester City No.2 said: “Unbelievable. He is unbelievable. Just his personality and how he conducts himself around the place as well. The sky is the limit for him. I think we can see what he has achieved so far in his career, and he is only young.”

Foden also hailed James, when asked to name his toughest international colleague.
Speaking on TikTok, the Manchester City No.47 said: “I’d probably say Reece James. Proper powerful and really hard to get past.”
Manchester City should be wary of spending heavily on Reece James
While we agree with Walker and Foden that James is a fantastic player, Manchester City should certainly be wary of his injury issues.
The £250,000-a-week man was able to start just 14 Premier League games for Chelsea last season, and could only manage 76 minutes of the opening game against Liverpool this term before suffering another setback.

It will cost Manchester City millions to lure James away from Stamford Bridge, and the Chelsea captain also earns a hefty salary, so Guardiola needs to be sure he can count on the 23-year-old before a bid is made.
As things stand, we believe it would be a major risk to spend heavily on James.
