‘Unbelievable’ Man City player could now stay at the Etihad until the age of 36

Manchester City star Kyle Walker has reportedly agreed a new contract with the club – and it is set to keep him at the club until 2026.

The England international has been speaking about his decision to stay put at City, after being heavily linked with Bayern Munich.

Walker, 33, was set to go at one point.

But a meeting with Pep Guardiola saw him change his mind.

And now not only is Walker staying at the club, he is also extending his contract…

According to MEN Sport, Walker has actually now agreed a fresh deal with City.

And apparently, he will sign on until the summer of 2026 – meaning Walker could now stay at the Etihad until he is 36.

36 was the age at which Fernandinho left City in 2022.

Should Walker actually see out the contract, it would mean he will have spent nine years at the club.

Walker signed for City in the summer of 2017 from Tottenham Hotspur in a £50 million deal.

That fee raised eyebrows at the time.

But Walker has more than justified it and is arguably now the greatest right-back the Premier League has seen.

A big show of faith from City

It is actually pretty surprising that Walker is set to sign a deal that could keep him at the club until 2026.

Of course, there is always a chance he could depart before then if, say, a club offered City a lot of money for him and he wanted to go.

But City officials and Pep Guardiola are clearly huge Walker fans.

It is really interesting because Walker – described as ‘unbelievable’ earlier this year by Gary Neville – is a player who so massively benefits from his physicality – which is something that typically declines as players hit their mid-thirties.

So with that in mind it’s a big show of faith from the club.

Hopefully, Walker can maintain the highest possible level at City for the next few years.
