While Tony Cascarino has urged Declan Rice to join Arsenal, he believes he would find it a challenge to turn down Pep Guardiola and Manchester City.

Speaking to talkSPORT, the well-known pundit gave his thoughts on the West Ham United midfielder’s future, who was reported to be in ‘advanced talks’ with the treble-winners on Friday.

Tony Cascarino has acknowledged that Declan Rice could be easily convinced to join Manchester City, due to the club’s unbridled success and of course, the Pep Guardiola factor.

Tony Cascarino says Declan Rice could join Manchester City due to Pep Guardiola factor

Branded as an ‘exceptional player’ by the Catalan boss himself via OneFootball, it seems like the England international has always caught his eye.

As a result, it seems like it is no coincidence that the Sky Blues are battling with Mikel Arteta’s side for his signature this summer.

While Tony Cascarino went on to recommend Declan Rice to sign for Arsenal, he believes rejecting Manchester City and Pep Guardiola, in particular would be a challenge for him.

“It’s very hard to turn Manchester City down because of the success, the manager that they have, the dynamics of the club. Is the success going to continue? Well, it’s hard to argue otherwise. It’s hard to imagine another Premier League team that’s going to win next year.”

“Nearly impossible. Nearly.”

“Key players are always desperate to play for Pep, I would imagine.”

It should be a no-brainer for Declan Rice

It is bizarre that many, such as Tony Cascarino believe Declan Rice should forego the chance of developing his game under Pep Guardiola at Manchester City in favour of a move elsewhere.

While Arsenal’s project is undeniably on the rise, City are one of the best teams of all time and if Rice backs himself to become an elite player, he should not be particularly worried about game time.

Especially considering City would pay a king’s ransom to sign the highly-rated anchor, it is likely that he would play alongside Rodri, rather than an understudy.

To join Manchester City with Pep Guardiola in charge is an opportunity that not many players in the world can get and to even considering turning that down is rather strange.
