Kyle Walker has given his thoughts on what is going wrong at Man City after they tasted a 1-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur, courtesy of a Harry Kane winner.
After Arsenal dropped a rare 3 points against Everton, it seemed like the Sky Blues could have made a real statement against Cristian Stellini’s men but unfortunately for the visitors, that was easier said than done.
While Gary Neville pointed out how Erling Haaland is not getting the service he deserves as one reason, Kyle Walker broke down why Man City are not at their breathtaking best after their latest defeat to Tottenham.
Kyle Walker on Man City woes after Tottenham defeat
“For me it’s just creating chances”, Kyle Walker opened, as relayed by Manchester Evening News after Tottenham beat Man City.
The England international continued, “I’m not being negative with anyone but it’s certain things that we can do in and around the box we can improve on, making that clear-cut chance.”
“’Keeper makes a save or it’s a parry or there are seconds, just creating more of the clear-cut action rather than having great possession outside the box. Sometimes you need to have shots and get shots on target.”
Kyle Walker is partially right
Well, there is no question that Pep Guardiola’s side, despite scoring a boatload of goals this season have a chance creation problem.
With drop-offs in form from the likes of Joao Cancelo, Ilkay Gundogan and Bernardo Silva, as well as a lack of real width, all the onus has fallen on to Kevin De Bruyne for creating a moment of magic.
As Kyle Walker said after Tottenham beat Man City, this is a major factor behind why his side look worse for wear.
Furthermore, a change in system due to Guardiola suggesting a lack of motivation to go for the three-peat in the reverse fixture is another factor, which has meant the combination of players on the pitch are finding it difficult to gel together, in simple words.
This very reason has hampered the side equally from both a defensive and offensive perspective.
