It has been reported that West Ham United have rejected a verbal bid worth £88 million from Manchester City for Lucas Paqueta.

This comes from journalist Santi Aouna after it was claimed on Thursday that David Moyes’ side would only let him go for a fee in excess of £85 million.

But now, it seems like West Ham United are not even interested in selling Lucas Paqueta to Manchester City for £88 million.

Journalist: West Ham have snubbed £88 million bid for Lucas Paqueta from Manchester City

Branded as a player with ‘unreal skills’ by Vladimir Coufal (via West Ham’s official website), it was revealed on Wednesday that Pep Guardiola has ‘always been a fan’ of the 25-year-old.

Ideally enough for the Catalan boss, another revelation that has emerged that the Brazilian international’s ‘head has turned’ as he eyes a move to the Etihad Stadium now.

Now, it has been reported that West Ham ‘want more’ than the £88 million verbal bid made by Manchester City to let go of Lucas Paqueta.

However, it has been emphasised that ‘negotiations are progressing well’, with both clubs sharing the sense that a deal is likely to be completed sooner rather than later.

It may be wise for Manchester City to pull out of the race if that really is the case

As magnificent a player as he is, the fact that Manchester City even made such a lofty proposal in the first place to West Ham is a surprise.

Paqueta is far from the finished product and a fee such as that should only be paid towards a player who is virtually guaranteed to move the needle significantly.

That is not the case with the former Lyon attacker and it may be practical for City to look elsewhere instead, unless both clubs can agree to a compromise.
