Pep Guardiola has had his say on the injury suffered by Jeremy Doku and when he could make his return to the pitch for Manchester City.
With Manchester City getting a hard-fought three points against Luton Town in a 2-1 win, the Catalan boss confirmed (via Manchester Evening News journalist Simon Bajkowski) that Doku’s injury is likely to be healed soon.
The Belgian winger has been unavailable for Manchester City’s previous two fixtures against Aston Villa and Luton.
Pep Guardiola reveals when Jeremy Doku could return from injury after Manchester City beat Luton Town
After the contest, the Spaniard revealed that Erling Haaland could either be fit in time to face Crystal Palace on Saturday or feature in the Club World Cup.
As the 23-year-old missed his side’s latest contest against Luton, alongside Doku, many wondered whether their absences were affecting City offensively when they were 1-0 down before the visitors’ spirited comeback in the second half.
Pep Guardiola has said that while Manchester City are treating the injury sustained by Jeremy Doku carefully, he could return to action shortly.

“It’s muscular, it’s not a big, big issue like Kevin [De Bruyne’s injury] was, for example”, Guardiola said (via Manchester Evening News journalist Simon Bajkowski).
“We have to think about it as well because of his explosiveness. We have to be careful. I don’t know when he be ready, maybe one week or two weeks, he will be ready again.”
The return of Jeremy Doku could mean the treble-winners have an almost fully-fit squad
Barring Kevin De Bruyne’s injury, by the time Jeremy Doku is in contention to start games again, Pep Guardiola could have a nearly fully-fit squad to choose from.
With the Sky Blues being four points off table-toppers Liverpool currently and the season entering its busiest period, it would be ideal if they could go on a winning run to boost their chances of winning four Premier League titles in a row.
For Manchester City to achieve this unprecedented goal, it cannot be stressed how vital players like Jeremy Doku and their fitness are.
Injuries have certainly played in part in City not looking as convincing as usual this season.
As a result, Guardiola would be waiting for the youngster to be fully fit again to play a role in the hope that his team fully kicks into gear during the business end of the campaign.
