Trent Alexander-Arnold has promised that Liverpool will challenge Manchester City to the Premier League title next season.

Speaking to Sky Sports, the highly-acclaimed right-back gave his two cents on the fight for domestic glory in the following campaign.

As Liverpool aim to return to locking horns with Manchester City to win the Premier League, Trent Alexander-Arnold has assured that this aspiration could turn into a reality upon the return of club football.

Trent Alexander-Arnold promises that Liverpool will challenge Manchester City to Premier League throne

With Yaya Toure recently claiming that Barcelona’s iconic 2008/2009 side would find it ‘tough’ to beat this current City team, but would eventually get over the line, those within the game realise that this group are one of the best ensembles in football history.

While it seemed like Arsenal would walk away with the league title for a majority of the previous campaign, Pep Guardiola’s men reminded the world that it is dangerous to doubt them in a 38-game season.

However, Trent Alexander-Arnold has backed Liverpool to keep pace with Manchester City in the Premier League title race.

“It’s just consistency. I think throughout the season we had good results against the big teams but we dropped points and sloppy points away from home especially, those are the things we have thought about and know we need to correct”, he said initially.

Liverpool fan favourite Trent Alexander-Arnold was bullish about his side’s chances of pushing Manchester City to the brink, like in the past, saying, “We know how to win the league. We know how to challenge City and go toe-to-toe with them. You need to be near-perfect throughout the season, so for us that’s where our heads out, knowing what we need to do and going out there and doing that.”

Trent Alexander-Arnold makes a fair point but things have changed

Considering Liverpool have done impressive business as well in the summer transfer window, one cannot blame Trent Alexander-Arnold for being confident about his side’s prospects in the Premier League title race against Manchester City.

But things have certainly changed.

For starters, while City have unlocked the most unbeatable version of themselves during the Guardiola era, the Reds have regressed.

To add to that, Arsenal seem better-placed to give the Sky Blues a headache.

As a result, a title race such as in the 2021/2022 season where Liverpool and City were still at loggerheads on the final day of the campaign seems like an unlikely prospect due to the aforementioned factors.
