It has been reported that West Ham United are assessing a transfer for Manchester City starlet Carlos Borges after Declan Rice leaves the club this summer.

This revelation comes from the Daily Mail as the Portuguese winger continues to make waves at youth level, registering an impressive 24 goals and 15 assists in all competitions.

While Carlos Borges is viewed as one of the most naturally talented prospects from the Manchester City academy, it seems like West Ham are now considering signing him ahead of next season.

Details behind the West Ham & Carlos Borges transfer story

A week ago, it was claimed that Southampton were ‘monitoring’ a move surrounding the 19-year-old talent.

Blessed with quick feet, bags of pace and directness, Borges, in some ways is the exact profile of wideman City fans have been crying out for throughout the ongoing campaign.

But now, it has been reported that West Ham are ‘doing their homework’ on Manchester City wonderkid Carlos Borges, as well as other youngsters like Bristol City’s Alex Scott and PSV Eindhoven’s Ibrahim Sangare.

It has further been claimed that as West Ham are preparing for life after Declan Rice, the teenager is viewed as a potential incoming after his potential exit.

MCN View: Sky Blues should consider Carlos Borges sale with a buy-back clause

Much like in the cases of Romeo Lavia and Gavin Bazunu, it would not be the worst idea for Manchester City to sell him to West Ham, but with a buy-back clause in place.

However, the question is whether the Hammers will even stay in the Premier League next season, as they are currently just one point off the relegation zone.

Considering the highly-rated forward has little to no chance of becoming a first-team player anytime soon, it would be better for Manchester City to either sell him or send him loan to West Ham for his development.
