Gab Marcotti has said that Manchester City-linked forward Dani Olmo is extremely inconsistent.
Speaking on ESPN FC, the renowned journalist made this claim after the Spaniard was linked with a move with City in the region of fees between £68.5 million to £85.6 million on Wednesday, with Pep Guardiola believed to appreciate him.
Now, Gab Marcotti has suggested that perhaps Dani Olmo would not be the best signing for Manchester City.
Gab Marcotti says Manchester City target Dani Olmo is too inconsistent
Branded as ‘outstanding’ by Marco Rose (via Bundesliga’s official website), there is no disputing how much quality he possesses.
Even recently, the 25-year-old exhibited his class against Bayern Munich in the DFL-Supercup, bagging a terrific hat-trick on the day.
However, Gab Marcotti does not reckon that Dani Olmo would be the best signing at Manchester City.
MORE MAN CITY STORIES

“Five years at Leipzig now, he hasn’t done it with any continuity. We’ve only seen glimpses.”
“He hasn’t also played too much. He’s in, he’s out. I don’t think Pep [Guardiola] needs a project now.”
Dani Olmo is quality but the treble-winners can aim higher
Gab Marcotti does have a point about Dani Olmo as Manchester City could certainly do better than signing him.
Things are yet to fully work out for the UEFA Nations League winner at RB Leipzig but more than that, one fails to quite pinpoint where he would seamlessly fit in at City.
Out wide, while Olmo can certainly create chances, he struggles to take on his man from those positions.
And in terms of a winger that can retain possession, the Sky Blues perhaps have the best in the game when it comes to such a profile in Jack Grealish.
While in midfield, Dani Olmo is not capable of operating deep in case Phil Foden plays as an advanced midfielder.
Olmo is an excellent false nine but Manchester City already have Haaland and Alvarez at their disposal, which would render his use in such a role as futile.
