Gary Lineker raved about Manchester City technician Phil Foden after he spearheaded his side’s latest victory against Manchester United.
The 23-year-old was described as the “Man of the Match” by Gary Neville after his stunning brace proved to be decisive in the hosts’ 3-1 win at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.
Paul Merson claimed that the Englishman is “world-class” as well as the fact that he thinke he gets into any team in world football.
Gary Lineker hails “stunning” Phil Foden as Manchester City beat Manchester United
After Liverpool’s last-gasp triumph against Nottingham Forest in a 1-0 victory on Saturday, all eyes were on whether Manchester City could get the job done in the Manchester Derby.
As City probed and probed, United valiantly defended everything that came their way in the first half.
Until Phil Foden grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck and led Manchester United to a much-needed win against Manchester United, which was rightfully praised by Gary Lineker.

“What a player Phil Foden has become. Stunning footballer”, he wrote on X during the clash.
Phil Foden produced a masterclass on the wing and it needs to be talked about
Gary Lineker is spot on about Phil Foden, who deserves plenty of praise for his instrumental performance for Manchester City as his side blew Manchester United away.
But aside from the goals and his display, the fact that Foden produced a masterclass on the wing against United needs to be hailed, in our view.
After all the praise the Stockport-born attacker has received due to his growing influence in midfield this campaign, he was tasked to play in his unnatural role as a winger in his boyhood club’s biggest game of the season so far.
Instead of having a day to forget, Foden looked like he was in no mood to make any excuses, being the superstar he is and scored his first goal from the right wing and his second from the left flank.
Performing regardless of the circumstances in the biggest of games is the mark of a top player and Phil Foden is undoubtedly one.
