Erik ten Hag wanted his Manchester United squad to learn the hard way after losing 3-0 to Manchester City at Old Trafford on Sunday.
That is according to The Sun.
So, what did Erik ten Hag do after Manchester United lost to Manchester City? Let’s take a look…
What’s the story?
Well, it is said that the Dutchman ordered his Manchester United players to sit and listen to the Manchester City squad’s celebrations in the away dressing room at Old Trafford.
Ten Hag also wanted his players to hear the Manchester City fans celebrating in the away end.
The Sun add that the 53-year-old then tore into his Manchester United squad after they were humiliated in Sunday’s derby, thanks to a double from Erling Haaland and a strike from Phil Foden.
Ten Hag is also said to have promised his players a bonus day off on Monday had they managed to beat Manchester City.

That was obviously not granted in the end, and the likes of Marcus Rashford were hauled into Carrington instead for a debrief about the nightmarish derby display.
Without a doubt, Manchester City fans all over the planet are surely sitting there with a smile on their face after hearing this – bragging rights remain on the blue side of Manchester, to say the least.
Manchester City truly embarrassed Manchester United
In some ways, Sunday’s 3-0 win was arguably more comprehensive than the 6-1 victory back in 2011.
Back then, most inside Old Trafford had hope of a result, and just happened to be left utterly shocked.
Nowadays – however – no Manchester United fan arrived at Old Trafford with any optimism, and Manchester City showed exactly why there was such little hope. The treble winners bulldozed the Red Devils.

It really was men against boys – to say the least.
Things could have got even worse for Ten Hag had Antony been sent off for his wild swipe on Jeremy Doku, which he probably should have.
Barring any major turnaround, it could be years until we see Manchester United involved in another Premier League title race – Manchester City fans really are living in a golden period right now, and long may it continue.
