What ‘everyone’ is saying about Man City’s Savinho after Tottenham make another bid to sign him

Tottenham remain keen on signing Savinho from Manchester City this summer.

The Brazilian was expected to play a key role throughout the 2025/26 campaign for Pep Guardiola as the legendary coach started the winger in three of the four games City played at the FIFA Club World Cup, while he also played in the strongest team against Palermo during the pre-season.

However, the 21-year-old missed Man City’s opener against Wolves last weekend due to injury, but cynics will suggest that it was a result of Tottenham’s interest in Savinho.

With only a few days left in the summer transfer window, it remains to be seen if the youngster leaves the Etihad Stadium, as the real reason Tottenham want the winger has been revealed.

Tottenham believe Savinho will be a superstar

Man City have no intention of letting Savinho leave this summer, with the Premier League giants believed to be blocking the winger’s exit, having only moved to the Etihad Stadium last summer.

However, that has not stopped Spurs from trying to sign the Brazilian, as Tottenham have now submitted a £69m proposal for Savinho, having missed out on Eberechi Eze.

According to Tottenham journalist George Sessions, the reason the North London club are willing to push for the winger is a result of their belief that the Man City player will become a superstar.

“They’re going into the Champions League, they need something to bring a wow factor,” Sessions said on The Tottenham Way podcast.

“Savinho is very young, but then everyone you talk to says he’s going to be an absolute star. His numbers last season, he didn’t score many goals, but I think it was 14 assists (10) in the Premier League.

“I guess Thomas Frank does traditionally like attackers that just can all dovetail between different positions.”

It remains to be seen how Man City respond to Tottenham’s latest bid, as it still falls short of what the Manchester club have previously demanded for their Brazilian star.

Man City want £76m to part ways with Savinho

It has previously been reported that Man City want £76m to sell Savinho this summer, which means Tottenham are currently £7m short of the Manchester club’s valuation.

City have made their stance clear to Tottenham, but if this asking price is matched, it will be interesting to see what the response will be.

Guardiola needs this situation sorted as quickly as possible, as if Savinho leaves the Etihad Stadium over the coming days, the Spanish coach will need a replacement.

Rodrygo is top of Guardiola’s list, with Man City willing to pay £87m to sign the Real Madrid star before the summer transfer window shuts.

The coming days have the potential to be crazy ones for Manchester City, as they look to finalise the squad they believe can compete for the Premier League this season.
