Kalvin Phillips’ move from Manchester City to West Ham United on loan will be made official very soon, and details of the last few days are now being made public.

The 28-year-old is to spend the rest of the season at the London Stadium, after City and West Ham struck a deal on Tuesday.

There had previously been interest from Newcastle United and Juventus, but both clubs had concerns about his match sharpness.

For Phillips, it’s a chance to play regularly again, under a manager who has long admired him.

With Euro 2024 taking place in the summer, it’s a move he absolutely needed, and hopefully he can make the most of it and get a seat on that plane.

City fans will wish Phillips well. He may not have played much since his transfer from Leeds United, but Phillips seems a lovely person and that is evident with one thing he did on the flight back from City’s trip to Abu Dhabi…

The Daily Mail dropped an interesting report about Phillips last night.

It has been quite a hectic past few days for him with all the speculation about a potential move away from the club. Realistically, it has probably been quite a full on past few weeks.

He was probably been the most talked about player in terms of potential outgoings this month, and we now know that his exit will be happening.

For all the speculation though, Phillips has simply kept his head down and got on with things.

By many accounts, he is a top professional and a very popular person within the squad. He is also a very humble person.

The Daily Mail reported last night that £150,000-a-week star Phillips actually took the time to say goodbye to all 100 staff members during the flight back from Abu Dhabi on Tuesday, thanking them all for helping him during his time at the Etihad.

A top man

It hasn’t worked out for Phillips at City, but he will now go with the good grace of the supporters.

It is thanks to little things like what he did on the plane why City fans still really like him, despite him not featuring much during the last 18 months.

By many accounts, Phillips is a top person and it’s a huge shame he couldn’t quite cut it at the Etihad.

It just sounds as though the level of quality was too much for him, with it also being suggested that Phillips did not move the ball quick enough for Pep Guardiola’s liking.

Hopefully now, he can get into that West Ham team and really make up for lost time and secure that potential £34 million permanent transfer.
