Manchester City’s Jack Grealish found himself back in the England squad for this international break’s round of Nations League fixtures.
Over the summer, the winger was not selected to be in the Three Lions squad for the 2024 European Championship.
Called up by interim England manager Lee Carsley, Grealish started and played a key role in England’s 2-0 win over Ireland, setting the Three Lions up nicely for Tuesday’s next match against Finland.
It didn’t take Carsley long to share his thoughts on the City star and what he produced on the pitch in what was a hostile atmosphere for him.

Lee Carsley drops Jack Grealish verdict after England vs Ireland
Speaking on ITV (7:12 PM) after the match, Carsley had this to say about Grealish including how he views the winger, his performance against Ireland and how he should carry on moving forward.
He said: “I don’t think he has definitely got anything to prove to us. We can see his quality.
“I think that will have done him a lot of good today in terms of getting another goal for England, and hopefully, he can continue that form.”
Grealish played well against Ireland
Prior to the Ireland game, Troy Deeney said that he thinks Grealish is one of the best players around when he’s in the right form and fully fit.
Starting in a deeper midfield role rather than his usual left-wing position that he occupies for City, Grealish completed 76 minutes against Ireland before being replaced by Morgan Gibbs-White.
In addition to scoring England’s second goal of the game, the three-time Premier League winner made two key passes, drew four fouls and won five of the six ground duels he was involved in.
This performance ultimately earned Grealish a strong match rating of 8.3/10 from SofaScore, making him the second-highest-rated England player on the day behind Declan Rice (9/10).
Now that Carsley has reiterated that he doesn’t have any doubts about Grealish’s quality or his dedication to the national team, these comments and his performance against Ireland should give the City attacker a big confidence boost.
