Ahead of the Sky Blues’ triumph in the Champions League final against Inter Milan, even Ilkay Gundogan acknowledged that the Catalan coach is the best manager he has ever seen, at least in his lifetime.

While many consider the decorated tactician’s time at Barcelona to be the prime of his career, he continues to win trophies season upon season whilst also miraculously improving as a coach.

Enzo Maresca, who assisted Pep Guardiola last season as Manchester City won the treble shared what makes him a cut above the rest.

“The most important thing that I could see last year was that Pep was trying to learn every day. This is what makes him different from the rest.”

Pep Guardiola will never truly decline

As Enzo Maresca revealed, Pep Guardiola is obsessed with constantly learning about the game and moving forward with the times.

This very trait is non-existent in even many of the greats, with Jose Mourinho’s decline being the perfect example.

Pep Guardiola, on the opposite end of the spectrum adapts his tactics and his team’s style of play in every campaign, which is why it is such a challenge for any of his competitors to keep pace with him.

This very attribute is why Guardiola will remain eternally successful, as while he is often boxed in as a manager who is solely focused on his philosophy, the truth is that he is never afraid to show growth tactically.

The Spaniard’s tactical openness coupled with him being a managerial genius is why he will always remain ahead of the curve.
