Pep Guardiola is about to enter his ninth Premier League campaign in charge of Manchester City.

At the end of the previous season, City became the first side to win four consecutive league trophies.

Having now won six of the past seven available titles, Guardiola has had an unbelievably successful period at the Etihad Stadium.

With the 53-year-old and his players now having the chance to make even more history and become the first team to win five Premier League titles in a row, the City boss has shares his early thoughts on this particular prospect.

Pep Guardiola addresses potential fifth consecutive Premier League title

Speaking about how he feels about potentially winning a fifth consecutive Premier League title this season in a recent video shared on the Stadium Astro YouTube channel, Guardiola had this to say on the matter.

He said: “My ambition is not the fifth. The first Premier League was, the first Champions League was, maybe the four in a row was, the fifth, no.

“The one issue is you break the record for the other one but breaking your own record is not the same pleasure, so that’s why it’s completely different, but the competition will make us to be there again.”

Guardiola will still want to win another title

In their previous campaign, City racked up 91 points after winning 28 of their 38 league games, scoring more goals (96) than any other side in the division.

With the Spaniard’s current contract at the Manchester club set to expire next summer, Roy Keane recently predicted that this new season will be Guardiola’s final one at City.

Even though Guardiola has admitted that he doesn’t have the buzz of wanting to break another record when it’s their own record his side would be breaking, there’s no doubt that he and his players will still be eager to win another title this time around.
