Pep Guardiola is set to take on his ninth season in charge of Manchester City in the coming weeks.

In their previous campaign, City became the first side to win four Premier League trophies in a row.

While a significant number of players from City’s squad are still on holiday after featuring in the 2024 European Championship, the Blues still have some first-team names and several youngsters training ahead of the new campaign.

With that in mind, some footage has now emerged of Guardiola sharing some early words of wisdom and encouragement to the players in training.

Pep Guardiola shares early team talk in Man City training session ahead of preseason tour

During a recent edition of Inside City shared on the club’s YouTube channel, Guardiola said this to his players in a training session before they jetted off to America for their preseason tour.

He said: “Control yourself as best as possible, you know exactly what you need to be ready in the training sessions because immediately we have games, immediately we have the Community Shield and immediately we have the Premier League.

“We need everybody fit and especially here [in the head]. Here controls everything.”

Guardiola knows how to motivate his players

After their friendly matches in America, City will be taking on Manchester United in the Community Shield before their opening Premier League match against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

With City being so consistently successful in terms of the trophies they won under Guardiola, who Luke Mbete recently said has been an honour to train under, it’s clear that he is a master when it comes to being able to keep his players motivated and focused on their goals.

Now that Guardiola has told his players how important it is for them to be focused on their upcoming matches, this highlights how much he wants to see his side start their new season on a strong note.
