Manchester City are no strangers when it comes to seeing players and other club figures join other sides in the Premier League.

After seeing Mikel Arteta leave his role as Pep Guardiola’s assistant coach to become the manager of Arsenal back in December 2019, City have more recently seen their chief executive, Omar Berrada, take up a role as the CEO of Manchester United.

In terms of the players who have left the Etihad Stadium to join new clubs, one in particular is Raheem Sterling, who signed for Chelsea back in 2022 after spending seven years at the Manchester club.

On the final day of the recent summer transfer window, the winger joined Arsenal on a season-long loan deal after being frozen out of Enzo Maresca’s squad at Stamford Bridge.

Now though, the former City star has shared his thoughts on Arteta now that the pair have been reunited at Arsenal.

Raheem Sterling reflects on his time with Mikel Arteta at Man City

Speaking in his first interview with the club, shared on their official website, Sterling had this to say about Arteta and the time they spent together at City.

He said: “He’s a top guy, a top character.

“I’ve been watching his journey because I spent some time with him at Manchester City, and to see him come in here and stamp his mark on this amazing football club, with this amazing history, it says a lot about him and the great job he is doing here.”

Sterling could be a key player for Arteta and Arsenal this season

Prior to this move being announced, Jay Bothroyd claimed that the relationship Sterling has with Arteta from their time at City could help get the best out of the Englishman on the pitch.

During his time at City between 2015 and 2022, Sterling scored 131 goals, delivered 73 assists and won multiple domestic trophies in 339 games across all competitions.

Regarding Arteta, he spent over three years in Guardiola’s coaching staff, helping the Blues win two of the most significant Premier League titles in the club’s history.

With Sterling having a previous relationship with Arteta as well as a wealth of experience winning titles and being a top attacking player, he could be a key figure for the Gunners this season.
