Who could Manchester City face in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16? Many have asked on Google after the group stage ended.

Pep Guardiola watched his side record a 3-2 win over Red Star Belgrade in Serbia on Wednesday, putting the treble winners through to the Round of 16 with a 100% record in Group G.

Liverpool are the only other English club in history to reach the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 with a 100% record in the group stage.

So, who could Manchester City face in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16? Let’s take a look…

Who Manchester City could face in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16

Well, Manchester City can only be drawn against those who finished second in their UEFA Champions League group – as reward for the Citizens topping Group G.

That means Guardiola’s side could be drawn to face any of these runners-up.

As aforesaid, finishing top of Group G was supposed to land Manchester City a fairly weak opponent in the Round of 16 – although there are still some heavyweights who the Citizens could end up facing.

Specifically, Manchester City will hope to avoid PSG and Kylian Mbappe, while Inter Milan showed just how tough an opponent they can be in Istanbul back in June.

Napoli also pose a real threat with Victor Osimhen and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia – a target for Manchester City – regularly causing chaos in attack.

In truth, any side in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 has to be seen as a real threat – it is not easy to reach this stage whatsoever.

Just ask Manchester United and Newcastle – who finished bottom of Group A and Group F respectively.

Whoever Manchester City are drawn against, the Citizens will be overriding favourites after last season’s historic treble success.
