Manchester City fans will have to wait a little longer to see new signing Savinho in action.

The Brazilian sealed his move to the Etihad Stadium a couple of weeks ago, in a move that had been highly anticipated by supporters.

There had been word at the start of the year that City had agreed a deal to sign Savinho this summer from Troyes.

City finally announced the signing of Savinho on July 18. Now, fans are eager to get their first glimpse of the South American starlet in action. Some were left excited when Savinho recently posted a picture of himself on a flight, assuming he was heading to the US to join up with his new teammates.

But Savinho is not joining up with the team.

Savinho will not be joining his new teammates out in the US because according to the Daily Mail, he has been spending the past week moving into the area.

Club officials have decided there is little value in having the player fly out.

Savinho will start training with his new teammates next week as attention turns to the Community Shield on August 10th.

It is reported by the Daily Mail that the player will be ‘officially unveiled’ at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.

There is a strong possibily that Savinho could make his City debut against Manchester United in the Community Shield. It is highly unlikely that he starts though.

Oscar Bobb has really shone out in the US, with Joleon Lescott feeling he has been the ‘standout performer’. Jack Grealish has also made a good impression. Those two would be prime contenders to start against the Red Devils.

The right decision from City

It is the right call for City not to have Savinho flying out to the US for the final part of their tour.

Utimately, it is really important for the club’s newest signing to get prepared and feel comfortable.

If he is to hit the ground running quickly, then it is important that everything is in place for him from the off. He has made a big move – worth aound £33 million – and needs to make sure he’s feeling ready for the challenges ahead.

Hopefully there will be a good turnout at his unveiling. Given how long City fans have waited for him to actually be announced as a new signing, then it’s likely he will get a good show of support.

It would be great to see Savinho get some minutes against United in the Community Shield, although it might just be a little too soon for him.
