Julian Alvarez received a very special comparison on last night’s Match of the Day, after yet another fine display for Manchester City.
Pep Guardiola’s side beat Nottingham Forest 2-0 yesterday in the Premier League to keep up their 100% start.
Phil Foden opened the scoring, finishing off a delightful team move.
And Erling Haaland added a second, after a great ball in from Matheus Nunes.
Those two goals happened inside the first 15 minutes and there were fears for Forest at that point.
But they fought, and gave a decent account of themselves – although there were helped by a moment of stupidity from Rodri, who got sent off.
Julian Alvarez receives high praise on Match of the Day after another top outing for Manchester City
Alvarez did not get on the scoresheet yesterday.

But he was in fine fettle once again, featuring as a number 10 supporting Haaland.
And on Match of the Day last night, martin Keown actually compared the £14 million star to Arsenal Invincible and Premier League legend Dennis Bergkamp.
He said: “He reminds me of Bergkamp. He starts as a striker and just wanders in that position and you#re wondering who’s going to pick him up.
“They haven’t missed De Bruyne which is massive credit to him. It’s his intelligence of movement really the way he just wanders into that little spot, always looking for that space, always available, always on the half-turn, looking for the big man up top.
“Young players should look at this when he receives that ball, just keeping things moving, intelligent player.
“He’ll drift out wide as De Bruyne does occasionally. The technique is all there, wonderful talent, great purchase, World Cup winner. He’s got everything ahead of him, wonderful talent.”
Pundit Tony Cascarino also heavily praised Alvarez after yesterday’s game.
A huge compliment
This is a seriously big compliment from Keown because Bergkamp is one of the greatest players the Premier League has ever seen.
The Dutchman was an incredible technician, and played a very similar position to Alvarez just off the main striker.
It has been an amazing start to the new season for the Argentine.

And it’s brilliant to see him have a leading role in the team now.
Guardiola loves him, and we will no doubt be seeing him a lot in the coming months.
