As quoted by City’s official website, the Spaniard reacted to the £51.2 million (The Athletic) man scooping up the accolade after a dream debut season.
Txiki Begiristain lauded Erling Haaland for his heroics in a Manchester City shirt that makes him a worthy winner of the PFA Players’ Player of the Year.
Txiki Begiristain raves about Erling Haaland after PFA Players’ Player of The Year win
In his first season at the Etihad Stadium, the 23-year-old broke the Premier League goal record by ending up with a staggering total of 36.
Scoring 52 goals in 53 games across all competitions as well as the treble, Jamie Carragher recently even claimed that he could get even better.
Now, Txiki Begiristain has showered Erling Haaland with praise after he won the PFA Players’ Player of the Year award.

“We are so delighted for Erling that he has won this award. His goalscoring record last season was obviously incredible and that alone marks him out as a special player.”
Aside from the prestigious award handed out by the PFA, Txiki Begiristain pinpointed the influence Erling Haaland has on his side both on and off the pitch.
“But his influence all over the pitch continues to grow and he has so much drive to keep improving even more and we are convinced he will get even better. Erling is a world-class player and a great guy to have in the dressing room and we’re very proud of him.”
Erling Haaland should have won both awards
While the Manchester City camp must have been over the moon for Erling Haaland, the fact of the matter is he should have won both the PFA Players’ Player and Young Player of the Year award.
Bukayo Saka, who was the eventual winner had a breathtaking campaign but to even compare his feats to that of the former Borussia Dortmund striker would be egregious.
It remains quite a shock how Haaland did not have two trophies to his name on the night as he had one of the greatest individual seasons till date in the previous term.
