Ally McCoist believes that if Declan Rice said yes to a transfer to Manchester City, he could further elevate this side.
Speaking to talkSPORT, the well-liked pundit gave his views on the prospect of the West Ham United captain snubbing Arsenal to join the treble-winners.
According to Ally McCoist, Declan Rice could come into this Manchester City and raise the levels.
Ally McCoist says Declan Rice could improve Manchester City
As per a revelation on Tuesday, a £90 million bid (£80 million + £10 million in add-ons) from City for the 24-year-old was rejected by the Hammers.
Branded as ‘unbelievable’ by Teddy Sheringham via the Daily Mail, the Englishman has been reported to be earmarked as Ilkay Gundogan’s replacement.
Now, Ally McCoist has claimed that if Declan Rice joins Manchester City, he is likely to break into the starting line-up and potentially even improve one of the best teams of all time.

“He would start a majority of them, I think. Definitely. It certainly would not be a Kalvin Phillips situation and that is for sure.”
Ally McCoist went on to explain how he can see Declan Rice fitting in at Manchester City, saying, “I can see Rodri and him playing together, and [Kevin] De Bruyne. I really could. That’s scary, that three in the middle of the park to be brutally honest with you.”
“It would be world domination, I think. I think he plays a lot more than he doesn’t. I know De Bruyne gets rested and all that. But I think he plays a lot more than he doesn’t.”
Declan Rice could certainly do so if he improves in certain departments
While Ally McCoist has a point, Declan Rice must better his game in certain aspects to become as much of a hit as one expects him to be if he joins Manchester City.
In possession, the Europa Conference League winner still has plenty of room to improve in terms of his range of passing, breaking the lines and dictating the tempo of a game up against a high press.
Considering John Stones, who partnered Rodri for much of last season exhibited their traits at the highest level last season, the Irons icon must do the same, as there are no complaints about him defensively.
Thankfully for Rice, with Guardiola being the greatest possession coach the game has ever seen, he would have the perfect manager at his disposal to make him the most complete version of himself, thereby improving City as a whole as well.
