Manchester City target Ebere Eze is now close to signing a new contract at Crystal Palace.

That is according to talkSPORT.

So, what is the situation involving Ebere Eze and Manchester City? Let’s take a look…

What’s the story?

Well – according to TEAMtalk – Pep Guardiola is still a fan of the England international after trying to sign him during the summer transfer window.

A story from The Athletic claimed that the Spaniard eventually decided not to seriously pursue Eze due to his preference for a smaller squad, and also due to the fact Kevin De Bruyne will return from injury in the second half of the campaign.

However – according to the Evening Standard – the Crystal Palace No.10 remains a target for Manchester City.

Now – though – Eze looks set to sign a new contract at Selhurst Park.

TalkSPORT believe the 25-year-old is close to putting pen to paper on fresh terms in south London, with Crystal Palace actually set to treble his wages.

Eze – who joined Crystal Palace from QPR in a £16m deal back in August 2020 – is now expected to earn £100,000-a-week in SE25.

Ebere Eze is still obtainable for Manchester City

As is the case with many new contracts nowadays, Eze’s deal is expected to include a release clause.

TalkSPORT believe there will be a “hefty” release clause in the Londoner’s fresh contract, which should please Manchester City, a side wealthy enough to trigger most release clauses around.

A new source of creativity certainly seems to be on the agenda for Guardiola, amid talk of Manchester City showing interest in Jamal Musiala and Florian Wirtz.

It was BILD who claimed that Manchester City like Musiala, whereas SPORT in Spain claimed that a move for Wirtz could happen in 2024.

With De Bruyne turning 33 in June, it seems as if the treble winners are already planning to sign their next midfield maestro…
