£180k-a-week Man City player ‘got a tour’ of club looking to sign him, City ‘won’t stand’ in his way to leave

Manchester City have a track record in terms of allowing key players to leave the club.

For instance, the previous summer transfer window saw City sell Julian Alvarez to Atletico Madrid after spending just two years at the Etihad Stadium.

Pep Guardiola then stated that Alvarez had told him he wanted a new challenge away from City after winning multiple trophies with the Blues.

With numerous other players leaving the Manchester club in recent years to start new chapters elsewhere, the Citizens are used to these sorts of deals.

Even though the next summer transfer window is some time away, behind-the-scenes information has emerged regarding one current figure in City’s squad who could be on his way out of the club in the near future.

Kyle Walker had a tour of Al-Ahli facility amid potential Man City exit

A recent report from Give Me Sport shared this update on Kyle Walker being linked with a transfer move to Saudi Arabia and City’s current stance on the defender.

It said: “Kyle Walker, the playmaker’s Manchester City teammate, is another player who could be tempted to move to Saudi Arabia.

“The England international turns 35 in May and has drawn interest from Jeddah-based Al-Ahli, who Ivan Toney joined from Brentford on deadline day this summer.

“Walker’s former Sky Blues teammate Riyad Mahrez also plays there. The pair met during the December 2023 Club World Cup in Saudi and Walker even got a tour of the Al-Ahli facility.

“GIVEMESPORT understands that Manchester City won’t stand in Walker’s way if he decides to exit. Teenage right-back Rico Lewis has kept him out of the side for much of this season, and should that continue, an exit could be on the cards.”

What has been said about Walker’s future at Man City?

Having been at the Manchester club since 2017, the 34-year-old is one of the longest-serving players at City, racking up 308 appearances since his arrival.

Back in July, it was reported that clubs in the Saudi Pro League had identified Walker as a transfer target due to apparent uncertainty over whether he’ll be at City next season.

More recently, it was claimed that City are open to selling Walker in the summer, with his current contract set to expire in 2026.

So far this season, the £180k-a-week defender has appeared in seven matches for the Blues across all competitions, starting just four of them.

Taking all of that on board, it seems that Walker could well be leaving the Manchester club in the summer, with a move to the Middle East looking like a potential destination for him.
