Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips will be an interesting watch today – and there is an early claim that Everton would be interested in making a move for him.

Phillips has not played a single so far this season.

City manager Pep Guardiola barely picked him last term.

And it looks as though it could be much of the same for Phillips if he sticks around.

Mateo Kovacic has already signing. And Matheus Nunes will be announced later today.

With England manager Gareth Southgate having publicly expressed his concerns about Phillips’ game time, perhaps he could leave today.

Everton eye potential deadline day swoop for Kalvin Phillips

According to iNews, Everton ‘would be an ambitious target for well-connected director of football Kevin Thelwell’.

Phillips has previously stated that he would like to stay and fight for his place.

But that stance may well have changed in light of his start to the new season.

Everton have made a shocking start to the new season, having lost all three of their games without scoring.

Undoubtedly, Sean Dyche needs reinforcements today.

Phillips, previously branded ‘intelligent’ by Pep Guardiola, would not help with their goalscoring issues, obviously.

But if he would be able to recapture the form he showed at Leeds then Everton would have a great player on their hands,

We shall see if an official bid – loan or permanent – comes in today from the Toffees.
