Manchester City had a number of players in action for their countries last night – including Rodri, who absolutely dominated for Spain against Cyprus.
The midfielder had featured for his country on Friday against Georgia.
It was a thumping 7-1 win for Spain – and they were back at it again last night against Cyprus.
Luis de la Fuente’s side ran riot, hitting six goals without reply.
Spain were expected to win comfortably. After all, Cyprus are only ranked 118th in the world.
But it was truly a demolition – and City maestro Rodri put in a truly dominant performance in midfield.
Man City midfielder Rodri absolutely dominates Cyprus for Spain
It has become fairly habitual for Rodri to completely control games.
He does it week in, week out for City in the Premier League and cup competitions.
He is truly the best defensive midfielder in the world.

It was perhaps, then, to be expected that the Cyprus players would have a horrible time coming up against him.
Rodri’s statistics from last night’s game are truly outstanding, despite featuring against weaker opposition than he is used to.
The 27-year-old was in complete control, making 102/108 passes (94% accuracy). He also had an astonishing 115 touches of the ball (Sofascore).
Rodri won all three of the duels he contested, and also showcased his vision, creating six chances.
He finished the game with a brilliant assist to his name. The star, admittedly allowed to wander forwards unchallenged, clipped a delightful through to former City striker Ferran Torres, who made no mistake with the finish for his second of the game.
Rodri shines, water is wet
Even though it was ‘only’ Cyprus, Rodri’s performance last night was still very impressive.
The £63 million star – who was branded ‘phenomenal by pundit Danny Murphy earlier this year – is totally in the groove right now, and is doing absolutely everything on the pitch.
He’s controlling games, stopping the opposition from getting anything and even making an impact in the final third.

Rodri’s rise in the last couple of years has been an absolute pleasure to watch.
Hopefully, he will be named the Premier League Player of the Month for August.
