£60m player now suggests he does not want to join Manchester City, amid claim Hugo Viana could make a bid

Manchester City have had little trouble when it comes to luring players to the Etihad Stadium this summer.

Hugo Viana swiftly completed the signings of Rayan Cherki, Rayan Ait-Nouri and Tijjani Reijnders in his first summer as Director of Football for Manchester City, even wrapping up a deal for Marcus Bettinelli as a replacement for Scott Carson, all before the FIFA Club World Cup started on June 14th.

Manchester City have also agreed to sign Sverre Nypan from Rosenborg in what has been a busy summer so far.

However, if Manchester City decide to resurrect a move for Andrea Cambiaso, they could face rejection.

Andrea Cambiaso pledges himself to Juventus

Manchester City attempted to sign the Italy international during the January transfer window to bolster the full-back department.

It was even claimed by Tuttosport that Manchester City planned to double Cambiaso’s salary in a bid to lure him to England.

Ultimately, a move failed to materialise as Juventus held firm on their £60m asking price.

Sam Lee of The Athletic has since claimed that Manchester City could revisit a deal for Cambiaso, but if Viana chooses to do so, he might face rejection after what the Juventus No.27 has now told Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Italian has doubled down on his love for Juventus, stating: “In January, it was nice just to talk (to Manchester City) but I’m happy to be here and to wear this shirt. I was never really close anyway — it was nice and flattering to be linked with clubs like that, but I’ll say it again, I’m truly happy to be playing here.”

Manchester City seem to have turned their attention elsewhere amid interest in Wesley

Manchester City could look to sign Cambiaso again, but a move for Flamengo No.43 Wesley seems more realistic at this moment in time.

Flamengo are willing to sell Wesley once the FIFA Club World Cup is over, and have already received a £20m bid from Brighton for the Brazil international – according to the Telegraph.

That same report states that Manchester City believe the South American is a perfect replacement for Kyle Walker, who is free to leave this summer after a disappointing loan spell at AC Milan last term.
