It has been reported that apart from Bernardo Silva, PSG also aim to wrap up a transfer for Ilkay Gundogan from Manchester City.
This comes from journalist Ben Jacobs on The Football Terrace, as the £20 million (Guardian) man is yet to make a final decision about his future.
However, if Ilkay Gundogan does decide to leave Manchester City after winning the treble, PSG could seriously make a move for him.
Journalist: PSG in the race to complete Ilkay Gundogan transfer
Branded as a ‘clever player’ by Phil Foden, the 32-year-old could well leave the Sky Blues on a free transfer in the summer.
The City captain’s agent even came out to extinguish all the rumours surrounding his client signing a contract renewal ahead of the Champions League final.
As there seems to be no indication about whether Ilkay Gundogan will sign a new contract at Manchester City, Ben Jacobs has named PSG as a potential destination for him.

“If he becomes a free agent, suddenly, there’s a free-for-all and this is where Barcelona may be able to move because they feel they would get value in that deal. I wouldn’t rule out PSG. I still think Arsenal’s interest is serious as well”, Jacobs said.
However, he went on to reiterate that while PSG, alongside other clubs are desperate to sign Ilkay Gundogan, he could well stay put at Manchester City.
“There’ll be a big race but the first thing that has to be established is the Manchester City aspect because the German international has been offered a contract extension by Manchester City. So, there isn’t that scenario of who he’s joining, maybe he’ll extend at Manchester City and at the moment, Manchester City haven’t received their answer.”
Ilkay Gundogan should stay at City
While Ilkay Gundogan has completed club football during his time at Manchester City, it would not make much sense for him to leave off the back of a treble triumph, especially if PSG maintain their interest in him.
At the end of the day, the Parisians are simply a chaotically run club and their project is yet to fully become successful.
The same cannot be said for City, who have completed all their objectives and under Pep Guardiola’s spell until at least 2025, they could prolong their presence as one of the best teams of all time.
As a result, one questions why Gundogan would even consider an exit, as he remains an elite player as well as the skipper of football’s ultimate juggernaut.
