Several players are expected to leave Manchester City over the coming weeks.
The Premier League giants need to trim down their squad to comply with Champions League regulations, but not only that, it is also the wish of Pep Guardiola, who made this issue clear towards the end of last season.
Given the interest, James McAtee is an easy player to sell, but that is not the case for everyone in Manchester. Jack Grealish and Kalvin Phillips will be tough to find new clubs for, while it remains to be seen who comes in for Stefan Ortega.
Loan moves are a quick way of getting players off the books for a season, and one £30m star has now requested to leave so he can gain more minutes to try and make it to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Vitor Reis wants to leave Man City on loan
Vitor Reis was not expected to leave Man City on loan this summer, but there have been mixed reports about his future.
It is now being reported by Andre Hernan that the defender has asked Man City to allow him to leave the club on loan this summer, as the centre-back believes it will give him a better chance of making the Brazil squad for the World Cup.
The Brazilian journalist has also stated that the former Palmeiras star has received offers from FC Porto and Bayer Leverkusen, and that the player and the Manchester club will reach an agreement soon on whether the 19-year-old will be allowed to leave.
It was reported last week that Reis would not be joining Girona this summer, which gives Porto and Leverkusen a better chance of acquiring the Brazilian for the 2025/26 campaign.
Bayer Leverkusen were also keen on signing McAtee earlier in the summer, but the Bundesliga club opted against a move as they looked to replace Florian Wirtz in Erik ten Hag’s squad.
Can Man City afford to let Vitor Reis go
Reis played his part at the FIFA Club World Cup for Man City this summer, and with the Premier League giants failing to sign a right-back this summer, Guardiola is short at the back.
Ruben Dias and Josko Gvardiol will be the legendary coach’s starting pair for the season; however, Reis would have been the best support for the duo, as John Stones is injury-prone, while the likes of Manuel Akanji, Nathan Ake and Abdukodir Khusanov did not have good campaigns last time around.
Reis will learn from Man City soon just how much playing time he can expect throughout the 2025/26 campaign, and if it is not enough, a loan move would do his development the world of good, even if it compromises Guardiola’s team in the short term.
Both Porto and Leverkusen have their benefits, but the Bundesliga would be the best option if the 19-year-old has plans of being a starter at City as soon as possible.
