It has been reported that Manchester City defender Joao Cancelo has agreed personal terms to sign for Barcelona.
This comes from Fabrizio Romano, after it was claimed on Wednesday that the £60 million (Telegraph) man was in talks to join Xavi’s side.
Now, it seems like Joao Cancelo in inching towards becoming a Barcelona player sooner rather than later.

Last season, it was heavily reported that the 29-year-old had a rift with Pep Guardiola, which led to both parties going their separate ways, with him joining Bayern Munich on loan.
While the Portuguese full-back has shown glimpses of his silky technical ability and flair going forward in pre-season, it was revealed just more than a week ago that Guardiola was still keen on his exit.
Now, it seems like the Manchester City boss may get his wish as Joao Cancelo has agreed personal terms to join Barcelona this summer.
Further details suggest that ‘talks are ongoing’ between both clubs about the payment structure in the deal.
The Italian journalist has reiterated the fact that the Spanish giants intend to use some of the budget from Ousmane Dembele’s potential move to PSG to sign the former Juventus technician, with him having been a ‘priority target’ for Xavi since January.

While one still remains unaware about the potential fee in question if Joao Cancelo ends up in a Barcelona shirt, Manchester City would be happy to be in the process of offloading him.
Aside from the much-discussed disagreement between the player and Guardiola, he also does not fit into City’s current tactical setup of playing four centre-backs in defence.
Considering it seemed like not many suitors were lining up to sign Joao Cancelo, the Sky Blues would be content with banking a fee for an albeit elite player who they have moved past on from a tactical perspective.
