Alan Shearer left blown away by ‘outrageous’ Man City star after exploits vs Ipswich

Manchester City made it two wins out of two against Ipswich Town on Saturday – and Alan Shearer has left mesmerised by one star in sky blue.

Pep Guardiola‘s side were stunned early on when Sammie Szmodics race through to put the visitors ahead.

But that was merely poking the bear, with City then firing three goals before the 16th minute.

In the end, it was a comfortable afternoon’s work, and all the talk today is about Erling Haaland, who hit yet another hat-trick.

He has now scored as many hat-tricks in the Premier League as Wayne Rooney, which is phenomenal to consider.

Haaland scored from the penalty spot, then raced through and rounded Aro Muric, and in the second-half, he fired home from distance.

It was a finishing masterclass, that wowed Alan Shearer.

Haaland now has four goals from his first two Premier League games, and the 23-year-old looks like he means business.

The star got the chance to rest up over the summer with Norway not qualifying for Euro 2024.

He’s come back and looks in fine fettle, and many are already feeling like he is showing the levels he showed in his first season at City.

Haaland’s performance yesterday was ruthless, and Alan Shearer was left in awe of his goalscoring prowess on Match of the Day.

He said: “His numbers are outrageous. This is the penalty, sends the ‘keeper the wrong way, full of confidence.

“This (second goal) is a clever finish you know, just lifts it over the defender there. And this for his hat-trick, doesn’t need an invitation, head down and knows exactly where he is. 67 Premier League goals in 68 games, a seventh Premier League hat-trick. It’s ridiculous isn’t it, his numbers are just outrageous. He’s a fantastic finisher, incredible.”

Shearer then joked ‘I don’t think he’ll get to 11’, which is the number of Premier League hat-tricks he himself scored.

Haaland can break Shearer’s record if he sticks around

As Shearer says, the numbers are just outrageous with Haaland.

67 Premier League goals from just 68 games is truly remarkable, and it is surely likely that he will one day surpass Sergio Aguero’s hat-tricks record (11).

Haaland could very possibly also eventually break Shearer’s record of 260 goals – if he sticks around.

We know that Haaland has left the door ajar to eventually leave City, given his nature as a very ambitious player.

But hopefully, he will stick around for years to come. He is certainly very happy at the moment.
