It has been reported that Manchester City will demand as high a fee for Bernardo Silva as West Ham United have asked for to sell Declan Rice.

This comes from Jack Gaughan, as the £43 million (BBC Sport) man admitted recently that his future still remains undecided.

After journalist David Ornstein reported on Wednesday that Arsenal had agreed a deal to sign Declan Rice, Manchester City could demand as much of a fee to sell Bernardo Silva.

Jack Gaughan: Manchester City could demand Declan Rice fee to sell Bernardo Silva

Branded as ‘elite’ by the Guardian, the 28-year-old proved once again last season why he remains one of the best players in the world, especially coming up trumps in the Champions League.

So much so that despite coaching some of the greatest footballers to have ever graced the game, Pep Guardiola said that the Portuguese international is right up there with one of the best he has ever seen.

Now, Jack Gaughan has reported that as suitors look to sign Bernardo Silva in the summer, the £105 million fee that West Ham are set to bank from the sale of Declan Rice will be used ‘as a gauge’ by Manchester City.

After all, the club believe that much like the Englishman, the five-time Premier League winner’s contract also runs out in 2025, while the former’s had an option to extend his deal for an extra year.

Manchester City must not budge at all

At the end of the day, the logic makes sense from Manchester City as while Declan Rice is a cracking player, Bernardo Silva has been on another stratosphere to him for years on end.

Furthermore, Arsenal are set to make Rice the most expensive British player in history after he was in the last year of his contract.

With Bernardo having two years left and having played a huge role in one of the best teams of all time, whilst being a consistently elite player, surely, he demands as much, if not more of an outlay.
