Manchester City could be set to spend big next summer – and Jamal Musiala has been mentioned as a possible target.
It was a quiet 2024 summer transfer window for Manchester City in the end with only two players coming in – Savinho and Ilkay Gundogan.
There were a few suggestions that City could spend big on a new midfielder. But in the end, Pep Guardiola was happy with the options he had.
Jamal Musiala though, remains of interest to City.
The Germany international is one of the best in the world in his position, and has now entered into the final two years of his contract at Bayern.
City are poised, and it was reported earlier this week that the club could be set to bid £84 million for the player.
But now there has been a claim to suggest City may not have it easy trying to sign him.
Bayern have now held first meeting with Man City target Jamal Musiala over new contract

It has been claimed by Bild that Bayern have now held their first meeting with Musiala regarding a new contract for him at the Allianz Arena.
The Bavarian giants know full well that Musiala is already one of the top players in the world in his position. And they want to avoid at all costs a scenario whereby Musiala enters the final year of his current deal.
Bild say that the first meeting with Musiala was positive and it is also stated that Musiala already has a very good relationship with Vincent Kompany.
But there was apparently no talk about money in this meeting, and this will be a key step when it comes to a breakthrough.
At the moment, Musiala earns around €9 million (£7.5 million/£144,000-a-week) per year. At the moment, he earns considerably less than the likes of top earners Harry Kane, Joshua Kimmich and Leroy Sane.
Musiala signing new contract would rule out Man City move
The situation with Musiala is going to be interesting to watch over the coming months.
He is a top player who rightly has many big clubs interested in him, and hopefully City will ultimately be able to land him ahead of the competition.
The club need to try and make sure they know exactly what’s going down with these contract talks, if they are to have any hope of getting him.
Musiala putting pen to paper on a new deal with Bayern would effectively end any chances of City succeeding, as he would be tied down for years and on huge wages.
Ideally, Musiala will get to the end of the current season without reaching an agreement with Bayern, allowing City to come in with a reasonable bid next summer.
