Manchester City have seen some incredible midfielders come through their club.

Many are now considered to be some of the greatest the Premier League has ever seen, with the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, David Silva, and Ilkay Gundogan all enjoying major success at the Etihad Stadium.

Most Man City fans think De Bruyne is the greatest to ever play for the Manchester club, while the Belgian superstar himself believes that title is held by Silva.

Brighton star Carlos Baleba has been picking between some of the greatest midfielders to ever play in the Premier League, and the 21-year-old thinks Man City had a star that has even better than Chelsea legend Frank Lampard.

Carlos Baleba believes Yaya Toure was better than Frank Lampard

Lampard was one of the best goalscoring midfielders the Premier League has ever seen, and Man City have recently been told they have signed a similar player in Tijjani Reijnders.

When picking between the best midfielders in Premier League history on GOAL’s TikTok account, Baleba created a final between Lampard and Yaya Toure, with the Brighton star picking the City legend out of the two

Early in the rounds, Man City fans would not have agreed with the 21-year-old picking Lampard over De Bruyne, but would be reasonably happy with the outcome.

Both players had incredible careers in England, and although the Ivory Coast achieved a lot in the sport, the majority would disagree with Baleba when picking between Lampard and Toure.

How Yaya Toure and Frank Lampard’s Premier League careers compare

Toure made 230 appearances in the Premier League with Man City, with the midfielder providing his team with 62 goals and 32 assists.

The Ivory Coast legend would win the Premier League on three separate occasions, but would never pick up a Player of the Season or Player of the Month award.

This pales in comparison to Lampard, who made 609 appearances in the English top flight, scoring 177 goals and assisting a further 102.

The Englishman also won the Premier League three times, but was crowned Player of the Season in 2005, while also winning the Player of the Month award on four occasions.

Toure also enjoyed success with Barcelona and his country, but when it comes to the Premier League, very few are better than Lampard.
