Darren Bent thinks Thomas Tuchel could have a big problem with one Man City player for England

A significant number of Manchester City players have experience representing their countries on the international stage.

In fact, City had more players (14) from their squad picked to feature in the 2024 European Championship than any other club in the Premier League.

This then led to four City players making it to the final of the tournament as Spain beat England 2-1.

Following the departure of Gareth Southgate, it was announced earlier this month that former Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel will become the next permanent Three Lions manager.

This has now led to one pundit and former England player making a claim about what sort of role one particular figure in Pep Guardiola’s side could have under the German.

Darren Bent claims Kyle Walker may not be in Thomas Tuchel’s England plans

While going through his predicted England XI under Tuchel, Darren Bent said this in a recent video shared on the talkSPORT YouTube channel about why he thinks Kyle Walker may not be a regular starter for the Three Lions going forward.

He said: “I think he’d have had that conversation with him and gone ‘You know Kyle, I’m going for a new system. You’ve been brilliant for England, brilliant for Premier League.’

“I’m not saying it’s the end of him but unless you play Kyle Walker where [John] Stones is, I just don’t think you do.”

Walker isn’t the only City player the former striker thinks the new England boss may not be looking to use in his team, as Bent claimed Tuchel would have no issue benching Phil Foden if he felt the need to.

Walker has already shared his thoughts on Tuchel’s England appointment

The defender has already spoken out about this big news, as Walker shared this reaction about Tuchel becoming the new England manager.

He said: “I understand the English public thinking it should be an English manager. But for me, it’s about who is going to get results.

“He’s proven at big clubs he can manage big players with big characters, the likes of PSG, Chelsea and won the Champions League against Manchester City, that’s one that sticks firmly in my mind.

“It’s a great appointment and an even better appointment if he puts me in the team again. But the proof is in the pudding, we need to do it as players.”

At the age of 34, Walker has 90 senior England caps under his belt.

To highlight his recent importance to the team, the right-back was one of the three outfield players – alongside Stones and Declan Rice – to play every minute of action for the Three Lions during the Euros in Germany.

However, after being left out of Lee Carsley’s first England squad back in September, Walker only played in one of the two Nations League matches from the mist recent international break.

Despite Bent’s recent claim, only time will tell regarding what level of prominence Walker may have in Tuchel’s ideal England side.
