Manchester City have another test ahead of them before the 2024/25 Premier League season kicks off.

Following their pre-season tour of America, Pep Guardiola’s side will be taking on Manchester United at Wembley Stadium in their latest Community Shield clash.

The two Manchester sides last met each other in the FA Cup final at the end of the previous season, which ended up with the Red Devils beating the Premier League champions 2-1.

Looking ahead to this latest clash, Erik ten Hag has shared an injury update which we feel should concern a lot of United supporters.

Erik ten Hag says four Man United defenders are now doubts for Man City showdown

Speaking in a press conference (via Man United) on Thursday ahead of Saturday’s clash at Wembley, Ten Hag had this to say about which players in his squad are doubts and may not feature against City.

He said: “Harry Maguire missed the game as a precaution, he is a question mark for Saturday. So we have training and we will have to see whether he is fit enough or not to be available.

“Victor [Lindelof] played, but he is also a question mark and so is Azza [Aaron Wan-Bissaka]. Luke Shaw too. We have to see about [them] tomorrow.”

City will be eager to get revenge on United

With United also having Lenny Yoro and Tyrell Malacia out injured, it’s not ideal for them to have four other defenders doubtful for tomorrow’s match at Wembley.

From City’s point of view, we feel that regardless of which United player will be available or not, Guardiola’s side will only be focused on themselves and doing all they can to win ahead of the new league campaign.

Also, the fact that United beat them in the FA Cup final could still be in the City players’ minds and make them even more eager to win on Saturday.
