Man City return to competitive action this weekend when they take on neighbours Manchester United in the Community Shield.
Three months on from the heartbreaking FA Cup final defeat, Manchester City return to Wembley to once again face their neighbours in a bid to win their first trophy of 2024/25.
Though the season’s traditional curtain raiser is basically a friendly, there is still a piece of silverware and bragging rights on the line.
Pep Guardiola’s side will no doubt want to avenge their surprising defeat to United when they last faced off in late May, with quickfire goals from Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo giving Manchester United the trophy.
The Blues will also be looking to win the shield for the first time since 2019 before they start the new Premier League season against Chelsea next week and there could even be a debut for Savinho.
Here is everything you need to know about the game.

The Community Shield will be held on Saturday, August 10, at Wembley Stadium before the new season kicks off the following week.

Manchester City vs Man United team news
Guardiola was forced to take a squad mainly containing youngsters on the pre-season tour of America, with most of his squad on their holiday following international exploits during the summer.
However, the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, Ruben Dias, Jeremy Doku and even Joao Cancelo are back in training and could be involved.
New signing Savinho will also be hoping to make his debut after meeting up with his teammates for the first time since his transfer from Troyes this week.
Phil Foden, John Stones, Kyle Walker and Rodri are unlikely to play following their involvement in the Euro 2024 final while Julian Alvarez is heading for the exit door as he closes in on joining Atletico Madrid.
United, meanwhile, will be without injured pair Leny Yoro and Rasmus Hojlund.
Luke Shaw, Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof are also doubts.
City vs United Prediction
City have played in the last three Community Shields but have not won any of them, losing to Arsenal, Liverpool and Leicester City.
This could be a great chance to rectify that, with City appearing to be the side in better form early on after a stronger string of pre-season performances.
Prediction: Man City 2-1 Man Utd
