After months of speculation around Erling Haaland’s future, his decision to commit a chunk of his footballing career at City also reflects how much he has loved his time at the club.
Haaland was never eyeing Real Madrid as a possible destination despite constantly being linked with a move to the Spanish capital.

In an interview with The Athletic, the super-agent, who also represents the likes of Arne Slot and Paul Pogba was asked the reason behind the star striker signing such a long contract.
Rafaela Pimenta suggested that Haaland’s intention was to show that he is it for the long haul at Manchester City, as she explained: If I want to send you a message that I love you, I marry you. I don’t date you. How can you express love bigger than marrying you?”
“That was the goal. To express what this partnership with this club really means. If it means something, let’s put it on paper and celebrate. Let’s be loud about it. We sent a message: we hold hands and we will grow into something that is bigger than it is today.”
“It takes time. There are ups and downs and good and bad moments but we’re here for each other.”

If Haaland does end up staying until his contract expires in 2034, Manchester City can be rest assured that his goal tally will be outstanding.
However, the Leeds-born marksman will be hoping that his goals lead to trophies.
