Jack Grealish is Everton’s marquee signing despite the fact that he has only signed for David Moyes’ side on a season-long loan.

Grealish has provided four assists for Everton in three Premier League games, which highlights how quickly he has settled into his new surroundings. The 29-year-old is one of the league’s most in-form players and looks like he could redeem himself at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Manchester City News confirmed that Everton enquired about Nathan Ake in the summer as well.

However, Ake ended up staying at the Etihad Stadium.

Everton were keen on signing Manuel Akanji before he joined Inter Milan on loan

Several of the Dutchman’s teammates departed Manchester City late into the summer transfer window such as Ederson and Ilkay Gundogan while Manuel Akanji signed for Inter Milan on loan.

Akanji attracted interest from Tottenham and AC Milan but Inter ultimately won the race to sign him on loan.

The Athletic have reported that Everton considered the signing of Akanji as they were keen to bolster their centre-back department.

The reason why Manuel Akanji rejected Everton

Victor Lindelof was also on the Toffees’ shortlist, who ultimately decided to sign for Aston Villa.

If Everton had signed either Akanji or Lindelof, the report claims that Nathan Patterson would have been allowed to go on loan. Both Sevilla and Toulouse were interested in signing the former Rangers star.

However, the Merseyside-based club were unable to sign either centre-half.

In Akanji’s case, the defender made it clear to Everton that his priority was to continue playing in the Champions League after leaving Manchester City and as a result, Inter Milan secured his services on loan.

As a result, David Moyes and Co were rendered powerless in their pursuit of the two-time Premier League winner.
