Injuries are part and parcel of football, but they are always frustrating for players – especially when they come right at the start of a new season, as one seems to have for a Manchester City youngster.
When players join a new club, they want to make an instant impression. They want to show why that club invested money into them.
So when injuries occur straight away, it is very frustrating for all parties.
City recently sanctioned the exit of Mahamadou Susoho to Peterborough United, after the youngster enjoyed some promising outings during pre-season.
Posh manager Darren Ferguson was delighted to land the youngster, and then admitted that Susoho had impressed after only a few training sessions.
But the talented gem now faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines after suffering an injury in the warm-up before Peterborough’s game against Oxford United in the Carabao Cup.
Big blow for Peterborough and Man City as Mahamadou Susoho suffers warm-up injury

Susoho made his first-team debut for City last season in the Champions League against Red Star Belgrade.
The teenager was just granted his first loan move to League One Peterborough, and he had been hoping to really shine.
But, after making his debut for Peterborough against Huddersfield Town on Saturday, he will now be made to wait for more minutes, after the starlet suffered damage to his thigh while warming up ahead of the Carabao Cup clash with Oxford United on Tuesday night.
Manager Ferguson said after the game (via Peterborough Telegraph): “He took a shot in the warm-up and felt a ‘pop’ in his thigh. And it does not look good. He’s really struggling and he was finding it difficult to walk after the game.
“He’s done it before and needed an operation. I’m not saying it’s as bad as that, but I’m fearful it could be a long one.”
A huge blow for Susoho

This is an absolute nightmare for Susoho, who will have been raring to go at Peterborough for his first ever loan move.
From the sounds of Ferguson’s comments, it looks like he could be out of action for some time.
It is a huge shame for the lad as he is a young player City have really high hopes for. Club officials will have been so keen to see him play in League One to further his development and perhaps shape him for the first-team.
We will now see just how long he is out for.
You would imagine that if it is serious, City will bring him back to the club for treatment and rehabilitation.
