Manchester City attacker Julian Alvarez has ‘no chance at all’ to leave the Etihad Stadium this summer.

That is according to renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano, who has tweeted about the Argentine this morning.

Earlier this week it was reported that German giants Bayern Munich were interested in the 23-year-old.

The newly crowned Bundesliga champions are keen to add some firepower this summer, having not really properly replaced Robert Lewandowski.

They are apparently big admirers of City star Alvarez.

Alvarez has enjoyed a brilliant first season with City, scoring 17 goals despite playing second fiddle to Erling Haaland for the most part.

The South American has really impressed whenever he has taken to the field.

Some have tried to suggest that Alvarez’s position in the pecking order right now might see him depart after just one season.

But Romano has rubbished these suggestions, and said quite definitively that he won’t be going anywhere this summer.

He said: “There’s no chance at all for Julián Álvarez to leave Man City on loan deal in the summer. Sources feel he’s set to stay in any case; but for sure, not leaving on loan.

“Links to Bayern on loan move are described as wide of mark.”

Alvarez, who’s also been linked with Barcelona, has made 48 appearances for City this season across all competitions.

He has made important contributions, and is clearly a player who will gain more prominence at the Etihad in the future.

Following his £14 million move to the club, City officials will be delighted with how his first campaign has panned out.

So Romano’s update today is pretty definitive.

He won’t be going anywhere this summer and that shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone.

You can clearly tell how excited Guardiola is about Alvarez.

He has complimented him publicly many times, and even recently suggested that he will try to find a way of getting him into the side alongside Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland.

Alvarez has massive potential.

So City would be fools to let him go out on loan somewhere. There is no better place for him than where he is right now.

And he will get more minutes next season, now that he has a year of experience of English football under his belt.
