Plenty of clubs have tried signing some of Manchester City’s key players in recent years.

In this latest summer transfer window, the Blues have seen a handful of players wave goodbye to the Etihad Stadium.

Specifically, City have cashed in on Sergio Gomez, Liam Delap, Taylor Harwood-Bellis and Tommy Doyle.

With the window set to close at the end of the month, a journalist has claimed that a key figure in Pep Guardiola’s squad is now not being pursued by a particular club.

Fabrizio Romano says club are now not expected to sign Ederson

Following Ederson’s recent links to Saudi Arabian club Al Ittihad (via Daily Mail), journalist Fabrizio Romano gave this update in a post shared on his official X account.

He said: “Deal off for Ederson to Al Ittihad from Man City, no chances to advance as expected!

“Al Ittihad have just signed all documents for Predrag Rajkovic to join the club as new goalkeeper from Mallorca. Transfer fee: €11m package.”

Good news for Man City

City signed Ederson from Benfica back in the 2017 summer transfer window for a fee of £35m.

As the Manchester club’s first-choice goalkeeper, the Brazilian has made 332 appearances across all competitions, keeping 155 clean sheets and winning multiple trophies along the way.

After the 30-year-old dismissed claims of a behind-the-scenes rift that has led to him looking to leave City, he then went on to tell the media that he is happy at the club.

Now that Romano has revealed that Al Ittihad are now unlikely to continue pursuing a move for Ederson following their signing of Rajkovic, this will be good news for everyone at City hoping to see the Brazil international stay at the club.

Moving forward, given how important Ederson is for the team, everyone at the club will have their fingers crossed that another club doesn’t come in to sign the shot-stopper before the window closes.
