As Florian Wirtz seems set to sign for Liverpool, Manchester City seem to have turned their attention towards signing the likes of Morgan Gibbs-White and Tijjani Reijnders to bolster their midfield.
Hugo Viana has admired Gibbs-White for years as City intend to bring him in during the summer.
Manchester City are expected to sign Gibbs-White, who could play as a number eight for them next season if he decides to leave Nottingham Forest in favour of a move to the Etihad Stadium.
As for Reijnders, Pep Guardiola loves him and the Catalan tactician is believed to hold the opinion that the AC Milan midfielder’s addition could help City win the Premier League title in the following campaign.
Man City rate Rayan Cherki highly and they want to sign him
Rayan Cherki is another midfielder who has been linked with a move to Manchester City.
So much so that Manchester City have enquired about signing Cherki, who could be available for just £19 million this summer.
Fabrizio Romano has now revealed that City rate the Frenchman very highly.
Alongside Gibbs-White, who could cost £70 million, Cherki is one of the two midfielders who has been shortlisted by Manchester City ahead of the summer transfer window.
How Man City could line up if they signed Cherki
The 21-year-old is one of the most exciting young players in Europe.
Cherki’s eye for a pass, sublime technique and two-footedness would automatically make him an excellent candidate to replace Kevin De Bruyne, who could now join Napoli at Manchester City.

If City managed to sign the Lyon maverick alongside Reijnders and Gibbs-White, it seems likely that the Englishman would perhaps drop to the bench in Pep Guardiola’s ideal starting XI — considering Guardiola particularly likes the Dutch international.
A front three of Omar Marmoush, Erling Haaland and Phil Foden could line up for Manchester City on most matchdays, with Ederson in between the sticks and a back four of Manuel Akanji, John Stones, Ruben Dias and Josko Gvardiol for the time being.
